On Oct. 19, the Washington – Mid Atlantic Local of SAG-AFTRA sponsored a table in support of the fourth annual Reel to Real fundraising event presented by the Maryland Film Industry Coalition. Formed in 2008, the MFIC is a nonprofit organization established to promote the need for competitive film and television tax incentives in Maryland. The coalition is an alliance of business leaders, labor unions, educational institutions, government entities and individuals who are dedicated to improving business conditions to grow the film industry in Maryland. This year’s fundraiser featured raffles, live auctions and silent auctions. All funds generated from the event went towards MFIC and its mission to advocate for effective incentives to regain and enhance Maryland’s competitiveness as a premier location for film, television and media production. Auction items included set tours, rare tickets to The Late Show with David Letterman, an escape to Nantucket Island, and box seat tickets to a 2014 Baltimore Orioles game.
