I am thrilled to share some exciting news with you all: Edward R. Leon has joined our SAG-AFTRA family as the new Executive Director for both the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston-Austin Locals. Ed officially began his role on February 24, and will be working out of our Dallas office.
After an exhaustive search, we are confident that Ed is the right leader to help advance our mission and support the work we do for our members. His deep knowledge, expertise, and experience in media make him a true asset to our team. As a member of multiple entertainment unions, Ed fully understands the issues we face and will be a strong advocate for our members.
Ed’s extensive career in the media industry includes leadership roles at Free Speech TV, Arkansas PBS, and organizations like The Great Courses and Fuse Media. He has earned recognition for his work, including multiple Emmy Awards, and has been named one of the “Most Influential Latinos in the Entertainment Industry” by the Imagen Foundation. His leadership experience spans strategic growth, content production, and organizational transformation, making him uniquely equipped to drive new opportunities for us in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
I’m excited to work alongside Ed as we continue to grow and organize in Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, strengthening our efforts to ensure fair wages, better working conditions, and more opportunities for our members. I’m confident that his vision and leadership will be valuable to us for years to come.
Please join me in welcoming Ed to our team. We look forward to working with him on many exciting initiatives in the near future.
Warm regards,
Nikki Dixon
