Sesame Street, the opera and Juilliard aren’t SAG-AFTRA’s only great neighbors. On Nov. 21, New York Local President Mike Hodge and National and New York Local Board member and MORE Committee Co-Chair Rebecca Damon teamed up with former LaGuardia student and SAG-AFTRA member Andrew Gelles at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts for a special outreach session with high school seniors. LaGuardia High School, just blocks away from the new SAG-AFTRA New York office, is part of the NYC public school system and specializes in performing and visual arts (the movie and television series Fame was based on LaGuardia High School). Hodge and Damon received an enthusiastic reception from the students, who welcomed SAG-AFTRA to the Lincoln Center arts neighborhood, before having a lively discussion about the benefits of union membership for the next generation of performers.
