Dear Member,
As part of SAG-AFTRA’s ongoing efforts to protect performers’ livelihoods in the age of A.I., we’re continuing to recognize those A.I. companies that are agreeing to the union’s A.I. guardrails which guarantee performers informed consent, compensation and control over the use of their voice, likeness, and performance.
Ethovox — a company owned and managed by voice actors that is building a fully-authenticated foundational A.I model for voice — has agreed to SAG-AFTRA’s A.I. guardrails. For those interested in licensing their voice to an A.I. company for use in a foundational model, this agreement ensures performers can participate knowing that they will be protected and compensated fairly.
SAG-AFTRA’s National Executive Director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland will be hosting an Instagram live with Ethovox CEO Cissy Jones TODAY at 4:30 p.m. PT / 7:30 p.m. ET on SAG-AFTRA’s Instagram.
This will be an opportunity to ask any questions you might have. You can also find more information, including an FAQ and sample agreement at sagaftra.org/ethovox.
Not all voice actors will want to work with A.I. companies, but agreements like these ensure that the opportunity to do so is available to union performers, and so the choice is yours to make.
Protecting performers in this new era means creating more contracts and guardrails, not fewer.
We look forward to seeing you on the Instagram Live later today.
If you have additional questions that are not answered during the Live or found in our FAQ, you can email us at ethovox@sagaftra.org.
