The eyes are the mirror of the soul. On camera, the eyes show what is going on in the brain. This class will concentrate on delivery on camera. Please come prepared with a 2 minute monologue or scene. Actors will slate and record their monologue or scene. After playback, feedback will be given from the instructor and peers.

Via mainstream acting theories and techniques, proven exercises and improvisation, students are exposed to the stylish and technical demands of camera performance. With emphasis on the ensemble and exposure, today’s audition obligations, to understanding how multi-media training relates to a 21st century actor, we will explore, challenge, and apply the vernacular, etiquette, discipline, and nuance of acting, and note how the process of storytelling applies to the actor.

The Art of the Scream: Authenticity and Acting for Horror

A conversation with Natalie Alyn Lind, Sidney Park and Kai Caster

The Hawaii Conservatory Committee is thrilled to present this panel for our Hawaii Local members. We will talk story with three talented young actors fresh off wrapping on an independent horror film, Halloween Store, shot entirely in Hawaii. Our panelists are Natalie Lind (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, Tell Me A Story, Gotham, Big Sky), Sydney Park (Will Trent, The Walking Dead, Santa Clarita Diet, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists) and Kai Caster (American Horror Story, Yellowstone, Smiley Face Killers). Henry Ian Cusick (LOST, The 100, Scandal) will be the moderator.

This event is free for SAG-AFTRA members. Registration is required.

The Atlanta Local Conservatory Presents: Finding the Funny

The Muriel Moore/Danny Nelson SAG-AFTRA Conservatory presents: Finding the Funny; An interactive evening with Mary Lou Belli

This event is open to 50 members. The first 25 to sign up will work directly with Mary Lou as participants. These 25 participants will receive sides in a separate email from the Atlanta Local. The remaining 25 members will be there to observe. There will be a wait list. If you must cancel, you must do so prior to 24 hours of the event so another member may participate. Doors will close at 8:05 p.m. No one will be admitted after that time out of respect for our presenter and all participants. 

Mary Lou Belli, a two-time Emmy award-winner, has been directing television for over 30 years in many genres from sitcoms to procedurals to documentaries including Elsbeth, NCIS New Orleans, Sweet Magnolias, Black Lightning, Bull, Legacies, Station 19, Monk, Famous In Love, Devious Maids, The Quad, American Woman, and Hart of Dixie as well as Disney’s The Secret of Sulphur Springs and Wizards of Waverly Place as well as  Sister Sister, Girlfriends, and The Game. She’s been nominated three times for Primetime Emmy for Comedy Directing of The Ms. Pat Show. She also received another Emmy nomination in 2022 in the Children’s Programming category.

Through her teaching, she supports many of the vibrant diversity programs. She’s the co-author of four books: The NEW Sitcom Career Book, Acting for Young Actors, PERFORM: Acting for the Screen and Directors Tell the Story.  Currently, she’s a governor for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. 

In addition, if you are a “no-show,” per Conservatory rules, you will be exempted from any events for the following month.

Our Conservatory will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Community Pantry at Georgia Stand Up.

Michigan Local March Conservatory

SAG-AFTRA members in Michigan are invited to join us for the next installment of our conservatory series.  

For our first session of the year we will be hosted by our friends at Wink Talent in Royal Oak.  Many of you remember agency owner Rob Winkworth from his years as a SAG-AFTRA franchised agent in the Detroit area. You will now have a chance to tour Wink's new office space in Royal Oak.

Rob and his staff will be discussing commercials submissions trends and best practices as well as helping members understand and trouble shoot some common issues with their Actors Access profiles. 

Space is limited so please be sure to RSVP as soon as possible.  

Easily accessible paid street parking is available all around the building. Parking is also free for the first 2 hours at the Lafayette Garage, 2 blocks south.  There is also free street parking 2 blocks south on Washington Street.

This class will introduce acting terminology, screenwriting, and genre and how that affects acting for the camera. 
This course will help students begin to develop a personal preparation system for an on-camera role and introduce them to the business of film and television. Filled with a mix of science and artistry this class focuses on bringing your best for the camera, and learn basic set etiquette.

into everything pre-production, production, and post-production to give you a template for how
to be prepared at each level of your filmmaking. Featuring Q&As at the end of each session,
bring your notepads and questions and get ready to create your own work!
