Let’s Talk About It: Inside the Industry with "Echo in the Canyon" Screening and Conversation

Please join us for a screening of the documentary Echo in the Canyondirected by Andrew Slater and featuring well-known musician Jakob Dylan, who interviews and performs some of the songs of iconic artists who participated in the origins of the Laurel Canyon music scene. Featured bands to look forward to include The Byrds, The Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield, The Mamas and the Papas and more. Performances by Beck, Nora Jones, Regina Spektor, Fiona Apple, and Cat Power.

Andrew and Jakob will participate in a discussion following the film with journalist Paul Zollo.

Seattle Local at the 2019 Seattle International Film Festival: Get Your 2019 SIFF Vouchers!

As a sponsor of the 2019 Seattle International Film Festival, the SAG-AFTRA Seattle Local has received a limited quantity of ticket vouchers for the festival, which runs May 16 through June 9. Each voucher can be exchanged at any SIFF central ticket office, venue box office or online for a specific screening. 
 
For online tickets, visit the festival website, create an account or login, select the screening(s) and number of tickets, and you’ll be asked to enter the voucher number (which we’ll provide) when you check out. It’s just that easy, and it guarantees you entry.
 
Because the number of vouchers is limited, we will make them available on a first-come, first-served basis, good for two vouchers per person.
 
If you would like to reserve a pair of vouchers, please contact the Seattle Local office at seattle@sagaftra.org to place your request, and we will follow up with an email.
 
Please note: Vouchers are only good for regular showings and cannot be redeemed for special events, screenings or forums.



An Afternoon with Thomas Hanley

You and a guest are invited to an afternoon with Thomas Hanley and a special screening of On the Waterfront.

Thomas Hanley is a former longshoreman who appeared opposite Marlon Brando as "Tommy," a 14-year-old gang kid who flies pigeons with Brando from a Hoboken rooftop. Following the screening will be a special presentation to him by SAG-AFTRA N.Y. Local President Rebecca Damon and a Q&A led by National Board member Adrian Martinez.

​MTSU Media Arts First Look ,This Thursday Night at Belcourt Theatre

As many of you know, our local was the first in the union to create a showcase for student filmmakers who use the SAG-AFTRA Student Film Agreement. This showcase has been an invaluable source of outreach to future filmmakers, teaching them how to work with union contracts at the start of their careers. That’s why we support efforts like this event hosted by MTSU that encourage industry professionals like you to get to know these talented young filmmakers.

A catered reception follows the screening.

Hosted by Jason Padgitt, Executive Director of the Nashville Film Festival, this one-hour screening features exemplary student work in the fields of filmmaking, live television production, animation, interactive media and photography. While not an official SAG-AFTRA Nashville event, our local president, Mike Montgomery, will be among the speakers and we’d love to see you there.

SAG-AFTRA Hawaii Local Student Film Showcase

It’s the industry standard for recording software. At this SAG-AFTRA Nashville Conservatory workshop, Nashville singer, producer and engineer Jason Kyle Saetveit shows you the basics of Pro-Tools in our downstairs studio. While online tutorials can provide generic lessons, Jason will show you how to set up your own template on the actual software you can use for free as a SAG-AFTRA Nashville member!

NYWIFT SWAN Day Screening Event + Reception

The SAG-AFTRA New York Local Women’s Committee invites you to join them for Support Women Artists Now (SWAN) Day at a screening of the documentary This Changes Everything. SWAN Day is an annual event that’s held on the last Saturday of March to celebrate women artists. There will be a Q&A and reception following this year's screening. Admission is free for SAG-AFTRA members and their guests and will be on a first come, first serve basis. Click here to register.
