SAG-AFTRA Colorado members,
The film incentive program, administered by the Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media (COFTM) is at immediate risk for the loss of funding for fiscal year 2018-19. If funds are lost, productions will no longer be able to receive the 20% cash rebate incentive, which enables job creation and economic growth for the State of Colorado.
COFTM received news on Wednesday, March 28 that the House voted to eliminate film incentive funding. The Senate is likely to meet and discuss the incentive early this week.
The film office is requesting your help. A phone call or email sharing personal stories of how the Colorado film industry has impacted your community, neighborhood, family and career, can truly make a difference.
If you feel this is an important issue, please reach out to your local senator with a positive personal story (you can find your senator's contact information here).
Below is a template to fill out and send to your county's representative as soon as possible:
Personal Story:
I am a ____(occupation)____ living in _________ County who has benefited from the performance-based rebate facilitated by Colorado’s Office of Film, Television and Media.
[Feel free to include a Personal story about how you've been impacted and the difference the incentive makes in determining whether to remain in Colorado.]
Please vote in favor of continued funding for the Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media when it is heard on the floor this week.
If you have any questions regarding this request, please contact Mariel Rodriguez-McGill at Mariel.RodriguezMcGill@state.co.us.
Thank you for your tireless support of film in Colorado.
