Diverse hands reaching up for a high five

Houston-Austin Local members are invited to get involved with YOUR local union. Getting involved in union service is a valuable tool for your career and now is the time to apply for positions on our local standing committees. Any active member wishing to serve throughout the 2023-2025 term may apply. The deadline for application is Tuesday, April 30 at 5 p.m.

The Houston-Austin Local committees are listed below and candidates may apply for more than one committee. Your application should include your name, committee preference(s) and a brief statement about your background and/or desire to serve. If you’re not sure about the particulars but would like to get involved, you can submit and leave the committee preference TBD and we will follow up with you. Please do not include your full resume. (Note: An application does not guarantee placement.)

Each committee will have a minimum of three members and up to a maximum of thirteen members. As our local covers a large area of south Texas, committees will meet remotely via Zoom in an effort to coordinate activities in the Houston and Austin areas and everywhere in between.

We will be conducting a Houston-Austin Local Committee Introductory meeting on Wednesday, April 24, 3 - 4:30 p.m. via Zoom. The meeting will provide an opportunity for members to learn more about committee service and what it entails. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions and communicate with Houston-Austin local staff, local board members and other interested members about our local union activities and engagement. Click here to register for the Houston-Austin Local Committee Introductory Meeting or email us at houstonaustin@sagaftra.org with any questions.
