Event celebrated those in New York who supported SAG-AFTRA during the TV/Theatrical/Streaming strike.
April 11 saw the exciting return of Rock the City to SAG-AFTRA’s New York headquarters. The annual reception, put together by the N.Y. Local Host Committee on behalf of the New York Local Board, brought together industry professionals, labor and union leaders, and public officials. This year’s event also celebrated the many groups and individuals who supported SAG-AFTRA during the TV/Theatrical/Streaming strike.
The evening featured remarks from Vice President of New York and New York Local President Ezra Knight, Executive Vice President Linda Powell, Chief Labor Policy Officer and New York Local Executive Director Rebecca Damon, and a special guest, New York state Attorney General Letitia James.
“We’ve got to make sure that we are on top of A.I. so it’s not a threat to you and not a threat to your jobs,” said James in her remarks to attendees. “I stand with you and I will always stand with you, now and forever … I stand for labor and I stand for workers. I am the lawyer of workers each and every day, and I will defend your rights all the way to the end.”
SAG-AFTRA also thanked New York State Sens. Brad Hoylman-Sigal and Lea Webb and Assembly members Alex Bores and Linda Rosenthal for introducing and supporting legislation that protects our members.
