We hope everybody in the Houston area is safe and whole following last week’s storms. Our friends at the Gulf Coast Area Labor Federation are helping union members who sustained damage from the storms. They will be out this week, Tuesday through Friday, helping cut trees in yards and doing minimal roof patch work with tarps. If you could use any assistance, send us an email at houstonaustin@sagaftra.org and we’ll get you connected with someone who can help.
The SAG-AFTRA Foundation may be able to assist our members who have been affected by the recent storms. For more information, visit the Foundation's website where you may apply for assistance.
There is also assistance available through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for those who have been displaced or otherwise impacted by last Thursday’s storm, or by the flooding that began April 26. Applications can be submitted online at disasterassistance.gov, through the FEMA app for mobile devices or by calling (800) 621-3362.
Help is available to residents of Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity and Walker counties. FEMA offers serious need assistance, which is a one-time payment of $750 per household for essential items, and displacement assistance, which provides up-front funds to help with immediate housing needs.
Best regards from the SAG-AFTRA Houston-Austin Local.
