Dear Member,

In February, SAG-AFTRA announced the Four Pillars of Change initiative that identifies real solutions and actions that help members confront harassment while securing an equitable workplace. An important part of the Four Pillars of Change is its Code of Conduct on Sexual Harassment.

As noted in the Code of Conduct, we will periodically issue Guidelines to provide further insight into steps that members and industry partners can take to expand workplace safety in our industry. After hearing from members around the country and from a broad range of expert and industry stakeholders, I am pleased to announce the release of Guideline No. 1 in which SAG-AFTRA calls for an end to auditions or interviews in private hotel rooms or residences.

Please click here to review, but in summary, Guideline No. 1 calls for a STOP to meetings in private hotels and residences; SUPPORT of each other as we put an end to this practice and insist on a Support Peer to join us at an audition or meeting in a high-risk location; and asks that you REPORT any abuse of SAG-AFTRA contract provisions and any time you feel unsafe as a result of being required to hold a professional meeting in a high-risk location.

Should you need to make a report, please call SAG-AFTRA’s EEO & Diversity department at (323) 549-6644 / (212) 827-1542 during business hours, or our after-hours emergency line at (844) SAFER SET, a number that is always available to you on the back of your membership card, on your member app and the sagaftra.org website.

Join me in working to help create sustained cultural change and build a better industry for our members.

Strength in unity,

Gabrielle Carteris
