SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director David White discusses the current state of Hollywood amid quickly emerging technology.
The technological shifts that we’ve experienced have been profound … and we at SAG-AFTRA have the privilege of being at the point of convergence of technology, media and working people.
David White
SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director
SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director David White kicked off the 3rd Annual Labor Innovation & Technology Summit on Feb. 19 with the keynote address Straight to Streaming: Pandemic Strategy or New Normal?
During his remarks, White discussed how technology continues to greatly impact Hollywood and the important role unions have in bringing stability to the numerous shifts taking place.
“Technological change can be profoundly good for us, but that change can also bring profound misery,” said White. “Changes must be balanced in countervailing forces. This is where unions come in: We serve as the watchdogs and protectors; we balance things for working people who otherwise can be crushed by these changes.”
