Cybersecurity experts recommend updating your passwords as often as every three months — or using a password manager (vault) to secure your passwords.
Why? Using public Wi-Fi, phishing attempts and your info on the dark web put your data at risk. Bots and hackers are working 24/7 to infiltrate all of your accounts. The best line of defense is frequent password updates — as long as your passwords are strong and unique.
What does a strong password look like? A computer can easily guess an eight-letter password, but a 12-character password with at least one uppercase and one lowercase letter, number and a special character would take 34,000 years to crack (according to Security.org).
A unique password is one that you’ve not repeated on any other account. Right, that’s a bother, but critical to protect yourself from cybercriminals accessing multiple accounts. So, yes, every account you have should have a different password. This is another reason you should consider a reputable password manager.
Take this opportunity to log in and update your own sagaftra.org password to something strong and unique. Go to the Login Info tab on your My Information page; click Edit/Change Password; update and click Save Changes at the bottom.
