The news team at SAG-AFTRA Seattle shop KING 5 Television was the recipient of the 2015 National Edward R. Murrow award for “Overall Excellence” in the Large Market Television category, announced by the Radio & Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) at their annual gala ceremony in New York on Oct. 12.

The judges cited numerous examples of KING-TV broadcasters’ in-depth reporting, including: coverage of the March 2014 Oso, Washington landslide; the devastating wild fire season in Washington state; the Seattle Seahawks 2014 NFL championship; and investigative reporting on the state’s “down-winder community” affected by decades of radioactive discharge from the Hanford Nuclear Facility in southeastern Washington, among many others.

RTDNA is the world's largest professional organization devoted exclusively to electronic journalism. RTDNA represents local and network journalists in broadcasting, cable and digital media in more than 30 countries. The National Edward R. Murrow Awards recognize work of the highest quality produced by radio, television and online news organizations around the world.
