SAG-AFTRA members joined their union siblings in showing labor solidarity ahead of several important contract negotiations.
Members of SAG-AFTRA, DGA and WGA were among the unions that showed their solidarity for the crew unions, including IATSE, Teamsters, IBEW, LiUNA!, OPCMIA and the UA, at the Many Crafts, One Fight Rally on March 3. The rally was attended by nearly 3,000 attendees to hear music, speeches, reunite with old friends and show labor unity ahead of the crew unions' contract negotiations with the studios and streamers.
Among those in attendance were former SAG-AFTRA TV/Theatrical/Streaming Strike captains and negotiating committee members, and SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director & Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, who delivered remarks.
“Throughout your negotiations, the studios and streamers will likely use the same, tired playbook they used with SAG-AFTRA and the WGA,” said Crabtree-Ireland, citing the union’s and the WGA’s work stoppages from 2023. “There will be a public disinformation campaign aimed at sowing discord amongst industry workers. … But all of us here today are committed to building a future where workers stay employed and communities can once again thrive.
“Union solidarity is the solution to corporate greed.”
