During the Labor Day holiday, Chicago members participated in Labor in the Pulpit/on the Bimah/in the Minbar. This annual event has a long history of connecting the labor and faith communities by inviting volunteer members of the labor movement to be guest speakers at congregations and faith organizations throughout Greater Chicago. The event is presented by the Chicago Federation of Labor in partnership with Arise Chicago.
Through this type of outreach and education program, union members demonstrate how working together with religious communities can achieve social and economic justice. Since its launch in Chicago more than 20 years ago, thousands of congregations across the country now participate in this program.
