As your local board, we are continuously looking for opportunities for SAG-AFTRA members in the Local.
Happy New Year Twin Cities Local Members,
I hope you are all staying safe and healthy. Even though we are not yet back to having in-person events, your Local Board has been hard at work.
In October, SAG-AFTRA sponsored the Catalyst Content Festival in Duluth. While at Catalyst, our members, Cat Campion and Casey Lewis, were instrumental in leading the hugely successful live table reads and actor professional skills workshops, respectively.
We have also been working closely with our brothers and sisters at the Minnesota AFL-CIO and our fellow unions in media and the entertainment industry to find ways to better advocate for our members’ rights and the issues that most matter. Expanding the film production tax credit will undoubtedly be a big part of this.
As an affiliate of the AFL-CIO, both nationally and locally, we are allotted a certain number of delegate positions at the St. Paul Regional Labor Federation and the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation. Delegates attend occasional meetings via teleconference. Any member in good standing is eligible to serve as a delegate at either body. You do not need to be a board member. If you are interested in serving, please contact the Director of Locals Administration Bill Hendrickson with any questions you may have.
As your local board, we are continuously looking for ways to expand and enhance employment opportunities for SAG-AFTRA members in the Local. That is why I would like to take a moment to ask you, what do you want to see from your local? There is no idea too big or too small to be considered. I know things are tough right now, between the pandemic and the lack of work, but we'd really like your input. If you have any suggestions for the Local Board to consider, please send them to twincities@sagaftra.org.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Happy New Year,
Peter Moore
SAG-AFTRA Twin Cities Local Board President
