A Letter From Your Atlanta Local President

Since the end of the strike in November 2023, the Local Board and staff have been working hard to educate local members, casting directors and talent agents about the new provisions of the TV/Theatrical Contracts that we all fought so hard to achieve. The SAG-AFTRA Atlanta Local committees have also been striving to plan local events and activities that will support our local members and illustrate the true value of SAG-AFTRA membership.

I am proud to report that the SAG-AFTRA Atlanta Local is in high gear strategizing on ways to nurture our ever-expanding influence on the industry and provide value and resources to our Atlanta Local members.

Here's what we have in store so far:

The Summer of SAG-AFTRA Atlanta

The Muriel Moore/Danny Nelson SAG-AFTRA Conservatory is back! 
    - Monday, May 20, 7-9 p.m.: The Empowered Actor with Elaine Hendrix
    - Monday, June 17, 7-9 p.m.:  Self-Tape Success with Cecelia Specht

Atlanta Local Coffee Connection
    - Wednesday, May 15, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Summer of SAG-AFTRA Atlanta Picnic
    - Sunday, June 2, 1-5 p.m.

The first quarter of 2024 has presented an industry that feels to be in flux. Whether due to the evolving business model of our employers or the ongoing IATSE negotiations, it seems we all find ourselves "waiting" in one way or another. But what I know is that we, the SAG-AFTRA Atlanta Local, are ready for whatever lies ahead. We are ready because we are a different community than the one we were before the strike. We are better and we are stronger for the journey we walked together.

So while we wait, please join your fellow Atlanta Local members in building community at upcoming events and attend what we hope to be many opportunities to better prepare you for the work we believe is just around the corner.
