A Letter From Your Twin Cities Local President

I hope your holidays were relaxing and your new year is off to a productive start.

It was a pleasure to see so many of you at the virtual membership meeting on Dec. 13. Having Casting Director Lynn Blumenthal as our special guest, sharing her insights and what we might expect in the coming year, made for inspiring conversation.

In addition to recapping the year nationally and locally — including hearing about the progress being made with our local broadcast contracts, information about the film production tax credit passed by the Minnesota Legislature, and a recap of local strike activities — we heard from Local committee co-chairs about what members can expect in the coming year.

Looking to the new year, the Local Board and committee co-chairs are interested in your involvement in making things happen. Local member input adds so much to the opportunities the Local committees bring to members. Below is a list of our committees. As locals across the country are gathering together to watch the 2024 SAG Awards presentation, our Local SAG Awards Committee is hard at work planning our screening party. The SAG Awards ceremony this year is on Saturday Feb. 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. CST, screening on Netflix. 

Our SAG Awards Committee invites all local members to join them at Saint Paul Neighborhood Network (SPNN) at 550 Vandalia Street, St. Paul.  

It’s a great opportunity for local broadcasters and performers to share time, food and drink together, celebrate the achievements of our episodic and film sisters and brothers, and recognize local accomplishments and goals. Reservations are required.
