The New Orleans Local held a self-taping seminar at That’s a Wrap TV/Film Acting Studio in Gulfport, Mississippi, on Aug. 18. The tutorial was presented by local member Summer Selby.
Selby was inspired to offer the seminar after attending a similar event hosted by the local in April in New Orleans. The space was filled with a variety of equipment and a mix of individuals with different levels of self-taping experience.
In covering her own self-taping techniques, Selby covered two of the most important aspects of self-taping: setup and lighting. Participants learned about her two setup options, experimented with using different types of light and were provided with feedback on which one worked best with their appearance. The group also learned about using appropriate backdrops and other filming techniques.
The event was well received by attendees and praised by Local President Diana Boylston.
“It was a really amazing workshop in that there was a lot of personal attention and feedback specific to [the member],” said Boylston.
An educational and fun night was had by all.
