Sexual Harassment

Attention to all SAG-AFTRA New York Local Members—

In April 2019, new requirements under New York State Law came into effect requiring that employers with 15 or more employees conduct annual anti-sexual harassment training for all employees. Further information about the requirements of this training (including FAQs) can be found here. This training must be completed by Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019.

All employers who employ SAG-AFTRA members must remain compliant with State law and therefore SAG-AFTRA recommends that anyone engaged with casting companies confirm with those companies what requirements and provisions for training they may have in place. We encourage members to do this because each casting company may have different requirements depending on how the performers are registered with them. Although under no obligation to do so, casting companies may choose to provide the training for people employed through their services. For example, Central Casting offers in-person sessions at their offices as well as online training that is available via one’s user profile under “Required Trainings” (including FAQs which can be found here).

It is important to note that failure to complete the required training may affect eligibility to be booked for work by the employer and/or casting company requesting completion of the training. Feel free to reach out to SAG-AFTRA’s EEO & Diversity Team at diversity@sagaftra.org or call (212) 827-1542 with any questions.
