The Atlanta Local Conservatory Presents: The Actor's Instinct with George Gallagher

The SAG-AFTRA Atlanta Local Muriel Moore/Danny Nelson Conservatory presents: The Actor's Instinct with George Gallagher. This workshop will explore a revolutionary approach to the craft of acting that has evolved out of Stanislavski's "method" and returned us to some of our most innate qualities as human beings. We will be doing a lot of pracical work - it's your chance to play and have fun. This approach is inspired by the work of Harold Guskin, Wynn Handman and Milton Katselas.

Only 20 members will participate. There will be a waitlist. If you must cancel, you must do so within 24 hours of the event so another member may participate. 

If you are a no-show, per Conservatory rules, you will be exempt from any Conservatory events for two months.

Doors will close at 7:05 p.m. No one will be admitted after that time out of respect for our presenter and participants. 

Our Conservatory will be collecting non-perishable food items for Intown Cares.

We are excited to be back in person! The SAG-AFTRA Atlanta Local Muriel Moore/Danny Nelson Conservatory offers small group workshops and larger panel discussions and speaker events. 

This workshop features the Nikolai Demidov School of Acting. The main goal of this technique lies in the cultivation of actors who possess one of the paramount professional qualities – that of creative freedom. This quality is essential to the harmonious implementation of the actor’s intuitive creative desires.

Jayson is best known for his portrayal of the Savior Gavin on The Walking Dead and Wendall Jelks on Rectify. Other credits include "Where the Crawdads Sing" and "Emancipation".

The SAG-AFTRA Atlanta Local Muriel Moore/Danny Nelson SAG-AFTRA Conservatory in conjunction with the Atlanta Local Diversity/EEO Committee presents guest speakers, Sherrie Henderson, Emma Everitt Ward and Alex Amsellem, Los Angeles-based casting directors who have worked in the Atlanta market.

Henderson, Ward and Amsellem have been involved in the casting of The Other Black Girl, Doom Patrol, Take The Night, Let The Right One In, Bunkheads, and the upcoming Citizen Zombie.

Atlanta Local Membership Meeting

We are pleased to announce that George Pierre will be our guest speaker. Pierre is a prominent casting director in the Southeast, with a number of impressive credits to his name that includes Black Mafia Family, Untitled Farrelly Brothers Project, Kingdom Business, Johnson, Saints & Sinners and Tides to name a few. 

A box will be at the sign-in table to leave a headshot and resume. 

Please join us at 6:30 pm for a meet and greet and light refreshments. The official meeting will begin at 7 pm. We will have updates from elected Atlanta Local representatives, committee chairs,and staff. A question and answer period will follow.

Self-Taping Meeting for Regional Members

You are invited to join a regional member informational meeting to discuss self-taped auditions for Atlanta, Miami and Nashville Locals. The National Board has recently appointed a National Self-Tape Committee to explore and consider ways to address the self-tape process. This topic has significant relevance to our actor/performer members and this is an opportunity to provide important feedback for the committee’s consideration.

Atlanta LGBTQ+ Pride Parade

Where: Piedmont Park, 1320 Monroe Dr NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30306. SAG-AFTRA members’ meeting location will be provided after you register.

Join your Atlanta Local fellow members on Sunday, October 9, as we march behind our SAG-AFTRA banner during the Atlanta Pride Parade!

The parade starts at noon at Piedmont Park. Due to strict headcounts by the parade organizers, we need all members interested in marching with our contingent to RSVP below. Members registering will receive further instructions on when and where to meet along with instructions on how to get a complimentary SAG-AFTRA Pride T-shirt.

The Atlanta Pride Celebration is the largest gathering of LGBTQ+ people and our allies in the Southeast. The event features a two day festival with music, merchandise, art and food along with a parade and a week's worth of educational and social events.

When: Sunday, October 9 (Members participating must be at parade no later than 10:30 am)

How to Support: Remember, you don’t have to attend in person to participate. You may show your support on social media, use the hashtag #JUSTUNITE and #SAGAFTRAMEMBER particularly during the parade or when you attend the 2022 Pride Festivities.  

COVID PROTOCOLS: Social Distancing is always encouraged (a minimum of six feet from others not in your party). We recommend wearing a mask at all times during the festival unless actively eating or drinking. Mask wearing in all enclosed facilities is required.  If you don't feel well, please stay home. We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable time and to be able to return next year!

About Andi Armaganian:

Andi Armaganian is a Los Angeles-based producer/director who has worked on more than 100 episodes of television with directing and editing combined, not including her film and animation credits. Her credits include Stargirl, Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Hawaii Five-0, Supergirl, Arrow, Blindspot, The Flash and MacGyver. Andi became a director in 2017 after completing the Warner Brothers directing program. She enjoys being a mentor and role model to up and coming people in the industry.
