SAG-AFTRA Midwest Locals TV/Theatrical Contracts W&W Meetings

SAG-AFTRA Midwest locals will be conducting wages and working conditions (W&W) meetings in preparation for the 2023 TV/Theatrical Contracts negotiations. These meetings are open to members of the following locals: Chicago, Ohio-Pittsburgh, Michigan, Twin Cities and Missouri Valley.

This is your opportunity to recommend proposed changes to these contracts. 

Proposals for this negotiation are developed through the involvement of members like you. Make your voice heard and participate in this very important process. Meetings are open to all paid-up* SAG-AFTRA members. Please check your email and sagaftra.org/2023ww for updates as additional wages and working conditions meetings are announced.

Midwest Locals Self-Taping Informational Meeting

You are invited to join a regional member informational meeting to discuss self-taped auditions. The SAG-AFTRA National Board has recently appointed a National Self-Tape Committee to explore and consider ways to improve the self-tape process. This topic has significant relevance to our actor/performer members and this is an opportunity to provide important feedback for the committee’s consideration. 

This meeting is open to all members in good standing from the following locals: Chicago, Ohio-Pittsburgh, Michigan, Missouri Valley and Twin Cities.

KRC's On Cam Jam is a perfect place to get up on your camera to work on sides, scenes, or the kind of copy that interests you! This is a great time to ask self-tape questions and discuss technology with other members.

KRC's VO Jam affords voice actors a time and place to work on copy, listen to feedback, ask all your tough tech questions, and make tweaks and revisions to get in tip top shape for the next voice gig!

Join Us for the Chicago Labor Day Parade

Sep 03, 2022 - 9:15 AM to 1:00 PM CDT

Where: 104th and Ewing

Join the Chicago Local for the Chicago Labor Day Parade on Saturday September 3. We are looking for at least 20-25 members to ride on the Chicago Federation of Labor float, or to walk the route if they prefer.

The parade will be followed by "Eddiefest." It's a fair for labor families, with music, free food and drinks and amusements like games and bounce houses. 

Where: The parade begins at 104th and Ewing and marches two miles south to Eggers Grove (3900 E. 112th Street).

Parking will be at Eggers Grove with shuttle buses taking participants to the start of the parade. The shuttle buses will run from 9:30 - 11:30. We will also give out SAG-AFTRA swag to members who come. 

When: Saturday, Sept. 3, noon ET. Please arrive by 11:15 a.m. to get on the float. The parade starts at noon.

SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local Corporate/Educational Wage & Working Conditions Meeting

The SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local will be conducting Wages & Working Conditions (“W&W”) meetings in preparation for the 2022 Corporate/Educational & Non-Broadcast Contract (“CoEd Contract”). The Co/Ed contract expires October 31, 2022.

Proposals for this negotiation are developed through the involvement of members like you. Make your voice heard and participate in this very important process. Meetings are open to all paid-up SAG-AFTRA members*.

Please check your email and the Chicago Local webpage for any additional meetings or updates.

WHEN: August 22, 2022 Noon-2p.m. CT Via Zoom

Meetings will be held by Zoom. You must have a Zoom account that identifies you by name to participate.

SAG-AFTRA will be conducting a Wages & Working Conditions (“W&W”) meeting specifically for the Mid-sized and Small Locals in preparation for the  2022 SAG-AFTRA Corporate/Educational & Non-Broadcast (“Co/Ed Contract”) Negotiations. The Co/Ed Contract expires October 31, 2022.

Proposals for this negotiation are developed through the involvement of members like you. Make your voice heard and participate in this very important process. Meetings are open to all paid-up SAG-AFTRA members.

WHEN: Wednesday, August 31, 10 am - 1 pm PT/12 pm - 3 pm CT/1 pm - 4 pm ET

At The Table: Go to the Body

Sep 19, 2022 - 6:30 PM to 6:30 PM CDT

The At the Table table read series is returning virtually with the script “Go to the Body” written by SAG-AFTRA member Kyra Jones.  After Sanaa, a rising racial justice organizer, is sexually assaulted by a fellow activist, she tries to bury her trauma and return to her normal life. But when her boxer fiancé, Kendrick, pushes her to fight back, the couple must grapple with their conflicting definitions of justice, healing, and protection.

The table read will take place on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 6:30 pm via Zoom.  If you would like to attend, please RSVP below, and the ZOOM link will be sent to you the morning of the 19th.

At the Table is a table read series which began in 2019 in partnership with IFA Chicago.  SAG-AFTRA Chicago members read scripts for a local filmmakers upcoming production.  Past scripts have included Kris Rey's "I Used to go Here" and Alex Heller's "The Year Between". 

Kyra Jones (she/her) is a Chicago-based Black feminist screenwriter, filmmaker, and actor whose work focuses on Black women experiences with intimate relationships, sex, and liberation. She received her degree in Theatre and Gender Studies from Northwestern University. Kyra is a script reader for Janelle Monae's production company, Wondaland Pictures. Most recently, she was staffed as a writer on Woke (Hulu) and Queens (ABC).

As a creator, she's known for her award-winning web series The Right Swipe (OTV) which she co-wrote, executive produced, and starred in. The Right Swipe was an official selection at Austin Film Festival, Urbanworld Film Festival, and several others. Her comedy script, Good Vibes Only, won Best Pilot at the 2020 Nashville Film Festival and was a finalist for Shore Scripts. Her upcoming feature, Go to the Body, won The Pitch at the 2020 Chicago International Film Festival and Screencraft's virtual pitch competition. As an actor, she’s appeared on the series finale of Empire (Fox), Chicago Justice (NBC), Kappa Force (Revry), and Seeds (OTV).

In addition to being an artist, Kyra is a professional sex educator and survivor advocate. She served as the assistant director of Northwestern University's sexual health and violence resource center, CARE. She has given lectures and workshops around the United States on consent, healthy relationships, transformative justice, sexual violence in the Black community, prison abolition, intimacy coordination, and more. She has worked with Tarana Burke of 'me too.', Mariama Kaba, A Long Walk Home, and other Black women anti-sexual violence organizers.
