An 8-week group for performing arts and entertainment industry professionals, 60 and above, that takes members through the process of reviewing their life stories via weekly writings based on questions that address major life themes. The group offers members the opportunity to focus on the meaning and purpose of their lives, while promoting well-being and creating community amongst peers.

SAG-AFTRA Foundation Intro to Screenwriting

NOTE: This is a 3 HOUR class that meets over Zoom web conferencing. The class begins at 10 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. MT / Noon CT / 1 p.m. ET

This class is designed for members interested in developing and writing their own screenplay. During the first half of the class, members will learn the fundamentals of screenwriting, including development of new ideas, dramatic structure, and character development, among other concepts. During the second half, members will learn screenplay formatting by using various software options, including Final Draft and Movie Magic Screenwriter. 

This class requires basic computer skills. No exceptions. No materials are required.

SAG-AFTRA Foundation Demo Reel Workshop with Windows Video Editor

NOTE: This is a 3 HOUR online class beginning at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET.

This 3-hour workshop is for members interested in learning how to build and edit their demo reel using Windows Video Editor, a basic video editing software that is currently FREE for use on Windows 10 PC's. In this workshop, you will use your own video clips to assemble and edit your own demo reel. You must have the software in order to participate in this online class. 

Please Note: This class is not an introduction on how to use a computer, so basic computer skills are needed.  No exceptions.

Members must bring the following on a USB flash drive:

At least 2 video clips in MPEG-4 (.MP4) or Quicktime (.MOV) format.

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of a Windows 10 PC.
  • Desire and ability to learn to edit digital video footage using Windows Video Editor installed on their computer.

SAG-AFTRA Foundation Presents Intro to Photoshop Elements 2021, Part 3

NOTE: This is a THREE HOUR class that meets online. The class begins at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET

This 3-hour class picks up where  Intro to Photoshop Elements 2021 Part 2 left off. In this class, you'll spend more time touching up headshots with various methods of removing blemishes, adding eye light, adjusting skin tone, lighting contrast, adding background and text, among others. 

Please note that you must have previously taken the Part 2 class and you must also have the software, Photoshop Elements 2021, in order to participate. You're welcome to use prior versions of the software, but we will not be able to address discrepancies during the class. Also, using the regular version of Photoshop is not recommended. 

Please Note: This class is not an introduction on how to use a computer, so basic computer skills are REQUIRED.  No exceptions.

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of a Mac or PC
  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021

This 3-hour workshop is for members interested in learning how to build and edit their demo reel using Davinci Resolve, a powerful video editing software that is currently FREE for use on both Macs and PC's. In this workshop, you will use your own video clips to assemble and edit your own demo reel. You must have the software in order to participate in this online class.

SAG-AFTRA Foundation Beginner Bundle: Intro to Commercial Voiceover Workouts

Feb 22, 2022 - 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM PST

This introductory workout/class is for performers that are completely new  to voiceover or for those that have some experience , but want a moderately paced learning experience that focuses on the fundamentals of a specific voiceover genre.  In this case commercial voiceover is the focus, as well as an introduction to the VO Lab's workout group structure.  Attendees will practice reading commercial VO copy (Lab provided) and receive direction and feedback from the engineer/booth director and peers within the group.

REQUIREMENTS

This is an introductory class/workout.  If you have previously attended the Beginner Bundle, Commercial Workouts for the Absolute Beginner or standard (non-Beginner Bundle) VO Lab Commercial Workout groups, you are not eligible for this offering.  

Particiapants must stay for the entire program (Noon  - 3p.m. PT / 3 - 6 p.m. ET)
