This class is designed for members interested in developing and writing their own screenplay. During the first half of the class, members will learn the fundamentals of screenwriting, including development of new ideas, dramatic structure, and character development, among other concepts. During the second half, members will learn screenplay formatting by using various software options, including Final Draft and Movie Magic Screenwriter. 

This class requires basic computer skills. No exceptions. No materials are required.

Being your own director is critical to auditioning and in some cases now, even when you book the job. So come prepared with questions about self-directing techniques, roadblocks you may encounter, how to get started and anything else about evaluating your own performances. This is a safe and encouraging space to ask us anything....about self direction!

Actors with home studios and who are actively auditioning are encouraged to attend.

SAG-AFTRA Foundation Presents: Online Screening + Virtual Master Class - WOLFWALKERS

Join the Filmmakers of WOLFWALKERS Director/Producer Tomm Morre and Director Ross Stewart for a virtual master class as they explain and illustrate a range of tried-and-tested animation techniques. This virtual in-depth tutorial will cover the basics of animation and character design.

SYNOPSIS

In a time of superstition and magic, a young apprentice hunter, Robyn Goodfellowe, journeys to Ireland with her father to wipe out the last wolf pack. While exploring the forbidden lands outside the city walls, Robyn befriends a free-spirited girl, Mebh, a member of a mysterious tribe rumored to have the ability to transform into wolves by night. As they search for Mebh’s missing mother, Robyn uncovers a secret that draws her further into the enchanted world of the Wolfwalkers and risks turning into the very thing her father is tasked to destroy.

This class will go over the best sources to use for audiobooks and auditions as well as a few tips and tricks for searching the internet a bit deeper. (Spoiler alert: no robot voices welcome.)

SYNOPSIS

Time is a finite resource. If you do not plan how to best use your time, days, weeks, months or years could go by without you feeling like your goals have been achieved. In this small group session we will examine where you can adjust past habits to best use your time in relation to your acting pursuits. You will come out of this session with some techniques to budget your time more effectively.

Please bring pencil or pen along with something to take notes.

Small group sessions are facilitated discussions with the goal of digging deeper into some of the information and advice shared within the panels. These sessions provide a time to break down concepts into practical action items by which an actor can individually apply to their professional pursuits. This session will last for an hour and a half. Participants must stay for the whole time.

In this session, we will examine the different ways an actor can focus their career goals and discuss how one can create a system by which to effectively target the industry professionals within that area.
