Join your fellow members, the SAG-AFTRA Radio Players, as they present two lively examples of Old Time Radio including Gunsmoke episode, ”Chester’s Dilemma,” in which Chester is infatuated with a young woman who has a secret that can land her in jail. The show will also include a radio adaptation of Brief Encounter which brings Noel Coward’s iconic film to life as we hear what happens when a chance meeting between two married people at a New York train station launches a love affair that threatens to derail their marriages.

The museum’s galleries will open at 6 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m.

Feeding Your Craft: Nutrition and the Actor’s Body

Join the L.A. Local Healthcare Safety Net Committee for Feeding Your Craft: Nutrition and the Actor’s Body. This interactive event will include both a seminar with Q&A and a hands-on workshop to explore regulating blood sugar, optimal digestion, leaky gut, reading labels and when and what to eat throughout the day while working on set. 

Two nutrition experts will lead the seminar followed by an interactive snack table to put to practice what you have learned!

A chance to get suggestions and advice from seasoned experts.  

The moderator, Lee Garlington, will ask questions for the first 20-30 minutes. The evening will then be opened up for you to ask your questions.

2024 L.A. Pride Parade

Join the SAG-AFTRA National LGBTQ Committee, fellow members and allies on Sunday, June 9, as we march behind our SAG-AFTRA banner during the L.A. Pride Parade! The parade starts at 11 a.m. in Hollywood and will be on Hollywood Blvd. (between Highland Ave. and Cahuenga Blvd). Due to a strict headcount by the parade organizers, we need all members interested in marching with our contingent to register by filling out the RSVP form below. Further information on when and where to meet will be emailed to you along with instructions on how to get a complimentary SAG-AFTRA Pride T-Shirt.

Where: Between Highland Ave. and Cahuenga Blvd. on Hollywood Blvd. The exact meeting point will be provided to you closer to the event date.

Join the SAG-AFTRA LA Conservatory for the Stand-Up Comedy Workshop.

Understand how multi-camera acting directly correlates to stand-up comedy. Learn how to set-up a joke, and land a punch-line. Learn how to be open and honest and harness those skills to make you a better, more confident actor. 

Take your life experiences, the subject of a “killer” stand-up set! This workshop will go over stand-up comedy basic rules including setup, premise and stage etiquette, and selected individuals will have the opportunity to test out freshly minted material before the end of the workshop. Taught by Cool Beans Comedy producer and coach Corey Martin Craig, with more than 10+ years of stand-up comedy instruction. 

Best for performers over the age of 18.

Award-winning actor Karen Austin unpacks self-sabotage, your discomfort zone, the leap into strong choices, and practical techniques for delivering your best. The opposite of fear is work. There may be group exercises and a few participants may perform on-camera, time permitting.

Her career includes decades of lead roles on film, stage & TV,  LA Drama Critics Circle & Dramalogue Awards, an M.A. from Northwestern University and election to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. She has taught at Stanford, the NY Actors Institute and the LA SAG-AFTRA Conservatory. She co-leads the Mastery of Creativity Workshop, and holds a weekly studio scene study class.

  • Brief Encounter - This radio adaptation of Brief Encounter brings Noel Coward’s iconic film to life as we hear what happens when a chance meeting between two married people at a NY train station launches a love affair that threatens to derail their marriages. Click here to listen to the radio show.
  • Gunsmoke episode, "Chester’s Dilemma" - Gunsmoke was a hit radio show from 1957 - 1961. It became a highly rated TV series from 1955-1975 on CBS. We will be performing the episode: Chester's Dilemma, which first aired on Jan. 30, 1960. Please become familiar with the beloved regular characters and the close relationships they had with each other. Click here to listen to the radio show.

Auditions will be open to all members in good standing. Please remember, this is RADIO. Looks are not considered, only the tenor, timber and expertise of your voice.

The performance will take place at the Wells Fargo Theatre at the Autry Museum of the American West in Griffith Park. If selected, your presence will be needed all day on June 26. Other rehearsals will be scheduled around cast members’ availability.
