Having the ability to record remotely is an absolute priority in voiceover right now and will be the norm moving forward. Understanding how these applications work and how you can deploy them when needed, will make you a more competitive and more bookable voiceover performer. This class will focus on iPDTL, which is another ISDN replacement that voiceover performers, podcasters, radio broadcaster, voiceover teachers, musicians and more use to connect a home recording  studio to recording studios anywhere in the world. Voice actor and iPDTL power user, Townsend Coleman will cover cost structure, acquisition, set up, activation, connectivity, recording features and other useful information about this browser based application. A brief Q& A will follow the presentation.

Townsend is a veteran voice-actor, having started in radio and voicing local commercials in Cleveland in 1975. In Hollywood since 1984, he's best known for his work in animation, commercials, and network TV promos. As the voice of Michaelangelo on the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon and the title character on Fox Kids animated series, The Tick... to 16 years as the comedy promo voice of NBC's "Must See TV" and "Tonight Show" promos, as well as numerous Keebler Elves, Raid Bugs, and the precocious red 7-Up 'Spot', Townsend currently voices the daily promos for Live! with Kelly and Ryan. He is also a member of the Don LaFontaine Voiceover Lab Advisory Board.

SAG-AFTRA Foundation Presents: Audacity 101: An Introduction to Multi-Track Recording

Audacity is a widely used FREE DAW for Macs and PCs that is very popular in voiceover.  Knowing how to use more of its functions can advance your workflow and help you produce better audio recordings and ultimately help you produce better sounding auditions, voiceover demos, songs and other audio related projects.  This is important to your knowledge base and the concepts learned in Audacity 101 can help you with other multi-track recording software. Also, completion of Audacity 101 qualifies you to take Audacity 102, where you will produce a commercial with voiceover, music and sound effects.

If you want to follow along (and optimize the experience) make sure Audacity is downloaded and properly functioning at least 3-hours before class begins,.  Do not wait until the last minute to download the application.  This will save time, so we can cover more material. SAG-AFTRA Foundation Presents: Resume Workshop

NOTE: This is a 2.5 HOUR class that will take place ONLINE.

The purpose of this workshop is to instruct SAG-AFTRA members on building a professional resume using a free word processor, Google Docs.  In this two hour session, members will setup an account to use the free software, learn how the site works as well as the basic functions provided, and build their resume during the workshop. While some members may finish their resume in the workshop, most members will have about 50-80% of their resume completed. NOTE: This is not a class to update your existing resume. We will be building a new resume in this workshop.

Join IWMF and CPJ for a webinar, “Strategies for Safely Covering Protests,” this Thursday at 11 AM ET.

Hosted by the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) and the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) this free webinar will be led by journalist safety experts Jean-François Belzil, Alison Baskerville and Colin Pereira, and highlight strategies to help journalists stay safe while covering protests, including how to prepare for and react to threats against their physical safety. The discussion will also provide guidance specifically tailored to covering protests during a pandemic, and situations that women journalists and journalists of color may encounter in the field.

Jean-François Belzil is the IWMF's security director. For 6 years, he has worked to support the safety of journalists all over the world, as a security advisor in high-risk areas in Latin America and Africa. He served in the Canadian army for over 10 years and in 2012, he received Canada's Star of Military Valor.

Alison Baskerville is a former soldier-turned artist and documentary photographer. She is founder of the safety training movement ROAAAR. In her work, she covers gender equality, military occupation, female identity in the forces, and the long-term consequences of armed conflict.

Colin Pereira works with CPJ Emergencies as the chief strategist on journalist safety. For 15 years, he has worked to shape the risk management model for journalists under threat. Pereira has advised press teams covering wars, natural disasters, terrorism and riots globally, and has worked on high risk investigations.
