New England Conservatory: The Diving Board Technique

Four diverse individuals are looking over a script. A light shines behind them.
Sep 23, 2024 - 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM EDT

Where: Zoom

Join us for a conservatory with SAG-AFTRA member and acting coach Ransford Doherty to explore The Diving Board Technique - Breaking Down a Scene When Preparing for an Audition. Discover how to respond authentically to scene partners and move the scene forward, especially during auditions. Doherty, a working actor and high school special education teacher in Texas, created the "Diving Board Technique," which helps actors demonstrate their understanding of the text and shifts the weight from the actor vying for the part to the actor becoming the part. He uses his personal stories, sense of humor and presentation skills to inspire, encourage and coach audiences to the next level of capability and possibility.

When: Monday, September 23 at 7 p.m. ET
