Confused or overwhelmed at tax time? Need help getting organized? Unclear on what is and isn’t deductible? The new tax law has brought changes to those in the entertainment industry. This live video small group conservatory, in conjunction with the New York Local MOVE Committee, will cover the new rules and help you prepare for the new filing season.

About Sandra Karas
Sandra Karas is a member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA and an attorney in private practice in the areas of tax, estates, trusts, contracts and business law. She is also a working actor and currently serves on the SAG-AFTRA New York Local Board and as Secretary-Treasurer of Actors’ Equity Association She holds licenses in the areas of tax accounting, securities and investments, and the law, and is admitted to practice in all New York State courts, Federal District Court, United State Tax Court and the United States Supreme Court.
This workshop is only open to paid-up SAG-AFTRA members in good standing. No guests allowed. Parents/guardians of younger performers under 18 years old are welcome. This is an opportunity for non-union performers to ask questions directly to experienced SAG-AFTRA members and staff everything and anything about the union. It is also an opportunity for them to talk about some of the problems they may be facing on set and learn how similar situations are addressed under SAG-AFTRA contracts.
Space is limited and RSVPs are necessary. To RSVP please email your legal first and last name to Ben Winthrop at benjamin.winthrop@sagaftra.org. Your legal name is needed for pre-registration with 20 Park Plaza building security, which also requires all visitors to show legal ID for entry.

Tickets for members and guests are $20 in advance ($25 at the door). Members and guests who are 25 years old and younger may purchase tickets at a special discount rate of 50% off the ticket price.

• Men and women in their 20s who can ice skate for work on Dec. 12
• Men, 35-50, overweight with facial hair for work on Dec. 13 (no skating ability necessary)
This year, the SAG-AFTRA New England MOVE Committee will host a toy drive for our local membership on behalf of Boston Children’s Hospital. Boston Children’s Hospital collects toys and donations for its patients and families for the holiday season. It takes all donations and creates a “shopping room” for families where they can select toys and items for their children and wrap them then and there.
