Monthly on the 4th Wednesday

This class is taking place from 12:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. for this week only. Class schedule will return to its regular time schedule on Wednesday, May 28.

Teacher: Aan Steele

The eyes are the mirror of the soul. On camera, the eyes show what is going on in the brain. This class will concentrate on delivery on camera. Please come prepared with a 2 minute monologue or scene. Actors will slate and record their monologue or scene. After playback, feedback will be given from the instructor and peers.

Acting on Camera

Via mainstream acting theories and techniques, proven exercises and improvisation, students are exposed to the stylish and technical demands of camera performance. With emphasis on the ensemble and exposure, today’s audition obligations, to understanding how multi-media training relates to a 21st century actor, we will explore, challenge, and apply the vernacular, etiquette, discipline, and nuance of acting, and note how the process of storytelling applies to the actor.

The Whisper Man

GWCI is seeking talent to portray 18+ playing basketball for The Whisper Man! 

Tentative Work Dates: Monday, 4/7

SAG-AFTRA rate of $216/8hrs 

 

Please note, you must be able to present valid identification to fill out a Federal I9 form and be paid. 

**Height, weight, and clothing sizes are used for costuming purposes only, unless needed for the casting of stand-ins or photo-doubles.

Working in Commercials

This class is designed to help students achieve a successful commercial audition in a fun and informative environment. The class consists of working with Commercial copy board and hand held paper copy. Various techniques are used to achieve a natural, honest, and unique audition. Improvisation techniques may also be used. Students may bring their own material or use commercial copy available. Auditions are played back and reviewed.

Leverage Your Military Experience In Acting

Are you a SAG-AFTRA New York Local member who serves or served in the armed forces? Want tips on how your military experience can enhance your acting career? Want to learn how to work with an agent? Join the New York Military Committee for a special meet-the-agent via zoom.

 

Whether you are just starting out in your performing career or looking to refine your approach, this is a great opportunity to gain valuable industry knowledge.

  • How military skills translate to the entertainment industry
  • What agents look for regarding special skills in veteran performers
  • Practical steps to position yourself for success

     

Meet the Agent: Barry Kolker

Barry has been in the talent agency business for 33 years. His team represents adults and children for theater, film, and television. Clients television credits include the Hulu series Paradise and ABC series High Potential. Client's film credits include Lost On A Mountain in Maine, Avenue Of The Giants, Tiny FugitivesThe Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Playdate, The Slumber Party, and Life Of Chuck. Barry has a BFA in Acting from LIU/CW Post.

 

The New York Local Military Committee advocates for SAG-AFTRA members who have served, or presently serve in the US military. Preparation for On-Camera Work

This class will introduce acting terminology, screenwriting, and genre and how that affects acting for the camera. 
This course will help students begin to develop a personal preparation system for an on-camera role and introduce them to the business of film and television. Filled with a mix of science and artistry this class focuses on bringing your best for the camera, and learn basic set etiquette.
