Confused about health insurance? This seminar will help you understand the Affordable Care Act and give you clear, step-by-step guidance on what all your insurance options are and how to get the most affordable coverage. The Entertainment Community Fund will provide important information relevant to freelancers and the self-employed. Find out how to estimate variable/sporadic income and see if you’re eligible for free insurance or expanded subsidies to reduce your premiums. This is an excellent opportunity for unbiased, comprehensive information.

Jim Bracchitta is the Associate Director of Health Services at the Entertainment Community Fund. In addition to his work at the Fund, Jim has been a working actor (theater, film, TV, commercials) in NY for 30+ years. Jim is also a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), and is on the faculty of the Trustee Masters Program at the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.

NY Health Fair Seminar - Mental Wellness for Actors: Assess, Adapt, and Inform Your Art

This seminar is presented as part of the NY Health Care Safety Net Committee’s Health Fair

Performers can cultivate resilience in an ever changing world. This panel discussion will cover: 

  • Tools to assess mental wellness and practice emotional self-regulation.
  • Adapting to circumstances, including the importance of identifying and establishing healthy boundaries in personal and performance arenas. This is especially important when called to a role portraying mental illness.
  • Evidence-based tips to calm the mind through intent and breathwork, including Dr. Herbert Benson‘s research with Tibetan monks. 
  • Simple yet effective lifestyle modifications to improve mental clarity and protect sleep.
  • Benefits of Cinema Therapy and outlining how one panelist’s short film was created.

Join John Dileva Halpern to experience one of the most accessible meditation practices for healing and body-mind awareness. From this spacious and generous experiential reality, one may enter into naturally creative processes. Time will be allowed to contemplate the outer circumstances in our present world, along with our individual capacities to calmly abide and manifest.

Afterwards, John will talk about how to sustain these practical and fluid body-mind states and to liberate and transform mental blocks.

John Dileva Halpern is an award-winning artist and filmmaker, contemplative instructor, and founder of the Institute for Cultural Activism International.

Blood pressure, blood glucose and cholesterol readings, oral health screenings, flu shots**, private rapid HIV screenings, reiki sessions, and more!
