Led by Lorenzo Rodriguez, this class is interactive and will cover topics that include:
How to select the right monologue that fits you;
How to prepare and perform your monologue and prepare for your audition.
You will have an opportunity to perform a monologue or scene and receive feedback. Monologues and scenes will be provided. However, you may bring your own 1-3 minute monologue or scene.
Lorenzo Rodriguez Bio: Lorenzo Rodriguez has acted in film, television and theater since the 1980s. He works in San Diego and Los Angeles. Lorenzo is the CEO of Premier Acting Consulting; he coaches actors in perfecting their craft, career and the business side of the entertainment industry. He studied the acting methods of Stanislavski, Meisner and many more. Lorenzo is the acting coach and one of the lead characters in the web series Private Investigations. Film credits include The Ramona Doll, in which he acted and directed.

Please join your fellow SAG-AFTRA San Diego Local members for the San Diego Local Membership Meeting and Year-End Celebration!
Members will have the opportunity to learn about and ask questions of elected representatives and staff. The event will kick off with the membership meeting, followed by the year-end celebration! Dinner will be served and a cash bar will be open to members.

San Diego Strike Support Rally
Tuesday, October 10, 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. PT
Balboa Park - Presidents Way Lawn, Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101
The rally will start at Presidents Way Lawn at the corner of Park Boulevard and Presidents Way at the south end of Balboa Park. We will walk to the Plaza de Panama, take a group photo at the Bea Evenson Fountain and walk back to Presidents Way Lawn. The rally will end at Presidents Way Lawn with speeches.
Parking is free. There is a parking lot at the corner of Park Boulevard and Presidents Way. There is no restroom at Presidents Way Lawn.
T-shirts will be distributed (while supplies last).

Workshop Title: Voice Acting Performance Master Class
This free workshop will primarily focus on voiceover performance using James Alburger's process and techniques for woodshedding a script, delivering a conversational “read,” and getting listener attention quickly. A variety of performing techniques will be discussed during the workshop and several attendees will be invited to participate in individual coaching. Many of the techniques James will cover can easily be applied to on-camera and theatrical performances as well as voiceover. There will be ample time for questions throughout and at the end of the workshop.
You'll learn:
How to make any script grab the listener's attention within a few seconds
How to quickly break down any script to determine the most effective delivery
How to make solid choices to tell the story in a compelling and effective manner
How to effectively use “the three dots” found in many scripts
How to make delivery adjustments "on the fly" to make the story more interesting.

About James Alburger:
Following a 25-year career with NBC, San Diego, and the recipient of 11 Emmy Awards for audio production and sound design, James Alburger opened VoiceActing.com in 1998 as an independent voice actor, performance coach and audio post-production expert. Between 2007 and 2014, James co-produced the VoiceOver International Creative Experience (VOICE) convention, the first International convention for voiceover talent. During its ground-breaking 5-event run, the VOICE conventions literally changed the industry by bringing the International voiceover community together for the first time and spawning numerous other voiceover conferences and events.
James literally “wrote the book” on voice acting! Most voiceover professionals consider his book to be “the bible” of voice acting. While most books on voiceover focus on how the author “did it,” The Art of Voice Acting is a comprehensive manual of voiceover and acting techniques that focuses on how the reader can succeed in the craft and business of voiceover. For more than 45 years, James has worked with actors, voiceover talent, and professional speakers, taking the actor’s initial choices to a new level through his understanding of the nuance of interpretation, delivery, blocking, timing, and character. He has directed hundreds of commercial voice talent, specialty performers and on-camera talent. He provides continued support through his mastermind group, The Conductor’s Club.
