Join the Washington-Mid Atlantic Local for the popular “SAG-AFTRA 101” workshop. This conversation will provide attendees with information on performer’s rights and protections, present an overview of some of the key elements of the Commercials, Corporate/Educational and Non-Broadcast, Television, and Theatrical Agreements, discuss the benefits of membership, and share the resources available to members of SAG-AFTRA. Additionally, we will be joined by SAG-AFTRA National Board member Towanda Underdue. This presentation is perfect for new and veteran members alike.

When: Tuesday, December 6, 2022  - 6-8 p.m. ET

Where: Online via Zoom

At the end of the presentation, there will also be an opportunity to address questions. If there is a question you would like addressed, you may submit it in advance to Colin Bouchard at colin.bouchard@sagaftra.org.

Self-Tape Audition Member Informational Meeting

You are invited to join a regional member informational meeting to discuss self-tape auditions. The National Board has recently appointed a self-tape committee to explore and consider ways to improve the self-tape process. This topic has significant relevance to our actor/performer members and this is an opportunity to provide important feedback for the committee’s consideration.

Also, a reminder that SAG-AFTRA has begun the Wages & Working Conditions (W&W) process for the 2023 Producer–SAG-AFTRA Codified Basic Agreement and the SAG-AFTRA Television Agreement (collectively, the “TV/Theatrical Contracts”) Negotiations. The TV/Theatrical Contracts expire June 30, 2023. Watch your email or visit sagaftra.org/2023ww for scheduled events and plan to participate.

Working as a Background Actor- Washington-Mid Atlantic Local Orientation

Join fellow new and seasoned Washington-Mid Atlantic Local members to learn about your union, your membership and working as a background actor in film and episodic series.

We'll cover topics that come up frequently such as craft service, NDBs, travel, bookings and more! There will be plenty of time to ask questions and have a discussion.

WMA Panel Discussion: Working in Wilmington

You may have heard that there are a lot of television and theatrical productions currently filming in Wilmington, NC and always more on the horizon. Keith Flippen will moderate a panel about "Working in Wilmington" featuring fellow SAG-AFTRA members and North Carolina natives, Jerry Winsett, Lee Armstrong and Allie McCulloch. These great panelists will discuss what it is like to work in the Wilmington, NC market and what you need to know to help you break in there. They’ll also provide insight into their favorite Wilmington actor resources, what the market's production community is like, how to spend your down time while you’re there shooting, how to avoid local traffic pitfalls and they’ll answer all of your questions.

 

When: Saturday, Sept. 24, 1-2:30 p.m. ET

2022 Washington-Mid Atlantic Virtual Membership Meeting

Join your fellow SAG-AFTRA members for the 2022 Washington-Mid Atlantic Local Virtual Membership Meeting to hear the latest news and updates. This meeting will be followed immediately by a discussion with casting directors Craig and Lisa Mae Fincannon of Fincannon & Associates in Wilmington, NC. We will have more information to share with you concerning the Fincannons a little later, but we hope you’ll start preparing your questions now. 

Members will have the opportunity to learn and ask questions of elected representatives and staff. While the method of meeting may be slightly different, the community feeling will be the same. Hope to see you there!

2022 Corporate/Educational Contracts Wages & Working Conditions Meeting - WMA Local

The SAG-AFTRA Washington-Mid Atlantic Local will be conducting Wages & Working Conditions (“W&W”) meetings in preparation for the 2022 Corporate/Educational & Non-Broadcast Contract (“Co/Ed Contract”.) The Co/Ed contract expires October 31, 2022.

Proposals for this negotiation are developed through the involvement of members like you. Make your voice heard and participate in this very important process. Meetings are open to all paid-up SAG-AFTRA members*.

WHEN: Tuesday, August 30, 2022 10:00-11:30 a.m.

WHERE: Meetings will be held by Zoom. You must have a Zoom account that identifies you by name to participate.  RSVP by completing the registration form below (you must be logged in to see the RSVP form). Upon RSVP, you will immediately receive a Zoom link and confidentially agreement.
