This course is designed to help the actor develop a process that gives them clear-cut results in the audition room, on set and on the stage, to aid in getting in touch with the emotional center, make strong choices that elevate the material and get them noticed.


Like all great actors they will learn to bring themselves to the role and trust their instincts, all while getting in touch with themselves as an actor, an artist and an individual.


Directions: Actors are required to bring a notebook to class, memorize lines and work outside of class to ensure they come prepared. It is recommended you wear clothing appropriate to the scene work assigned, arrive to class warmed up and ready to work. 


Actors are recommended to read books such as Acting: The 1st 6 Lessons by Richard Boleslawski for this class series.

Join the SAG-AFTRA L.A. Conservatory for the Stand-Up Comedy Workshop.

Understand how multi-camera acting directly correlates to stand-up comedy. Learn how to set-up a joke and land a punch-line. Learn how to be open and honest and harness those skills to make you a better, more confident actor.

Take your life experiences, the subject of a “killer” stand-up set! This workshop will go over stand-up comedy basic rules including setup, premise and stage etiquette. Selected individuals will have the opportunity to test out freshly minted material before the end of the workshop. Taught by Cool Beans Comedy producer and coach Corey Martin Craig, with more than 10+ years of stand-up comedy instruction.

Single Cam Comedy genre training in the form of prepared reads on-camera, with feedback and training, like an actual in-person audition.

Members can choose sides from the following database:

Non-Binary individuals can choose anything from either folders or bring their own as long as it is genre-appropriate.

Directions:
Please choose and prepare one scene as if for an audition; totally prepared, dressed for the part, off-book, and adapted for a taped audition environment. Bring two copies of the sides, one for yourself and the other highlighted for the reader. Bring a flash drive or SD card if you'd like to take the takes home with you.

Take a deep dive into two characters in two scenes, from script analysis to a full footing and guest pro giving final feedback.


Focus on process and wonderful failures/lessons, stretching outside of your comfort zone, overcoming rust and de-emphasis on results.


Work on two scenes/two scene partners, luxuriously and slowly over 3-4 weeks.


Class One: Bring a monologue, song or dance to introduce and celebrate yourself. Movement and vocal warm-ups. Introductions and scenes assigned.


Class Two: Table reads and text analysis without self-tape result speed. The event, your roles function, genre, the writer and listening.


Class Three: Warm-up and first footings, exploring the character in body and space, personalization and being present.


Class Four: Guest Pro if available. Fully memorized. Staged with props and costume.


Class Five to Eight: Repeat with a new scene/partner.


Note: This is not a beginner’s course, actors need to rehearse outside of the class to prepare scenes. This is for actors who want to have fun and explore without judgment. Actors are encouraged to stretch with characters they may not get cast as and re-examine or revive their process with support you deserve.
