Once you are registered for the initial course on Monday, April 28, you are automatically registered for this class.

Join Caryn West for Scene Study: From Table Read To Performance!


Take a deep dive into two characters in two scenes, from script analysis to a full footing and guest pro giving final feedback.


Focus on process and wonderful failures/lessons, stretching outside of your comfort zone, overcoming rust and de-emphasis on results.


Work on two scenes/two scene partners, luxuriously and slowly over 3-4 weeks.


Class One: Bring a monologue, song or dance to introduce and celebrate yourself. Movement and vocal warm-ups. Introductions and scenes assigned.


Class Two: Table reads and text analysis without self-tape result speed. The event, your roles function, genre, the writer and listening.


Class Three: Warm-up and first footings, exploring the character in body and space, personalization and being present.


Class Four: Guest Pro if available. Fully memorized. Staged with props and costume.


Class Five to Eight: Repeat with a new scene/partner.


Note: This is not a beginner’s course, actors need to rehearse outside of the class to prepare scenes. This is for actors who want to have fun and explore without judgment. Actors are encouraged to stretch with characters they may not get cast as and re-examine or revive their process with support you deserve.

Join the SAG-AFTRA L.A. Conservatory for On-Camera Drama & Comedy Class!

Students will learn how to make bold, creative choices to truly inhabit a character and bring the words on the page to life. This deep dive into emotions, relationships, obstacles and objectives will help open up the actor to spontaneity and working moment-to-moment. Putting all these tools together will allow them to book more work in television and film.

Please choose and prepare one scene as if for an audition; totally prepared, dressed for the part, off-book and adapted for a taped audition environment. Bring two copies of the sides, one for yourself and the other highlighted for the reader. Bring a flash drive or SD card if you'd like to take the takes home with you.

Film/TV Audition Workshop

Join us for the Arizona-Utah Local Conservatory's Film/TV Audition Workshop with Bella Hibbs of Good Faith Casting.

SAG-AFTRA members will gain valuable insights into the audition environment. The workshop will last 1.5 hours and is fully on Zoom so members anywhere in the Local can participate.

The session begins with a 30-minute presentation covering key industry expectations and common "deal killers" that actors should avoid. Next, a limited number of participants will have the opportunity to perform a short scene, receiving feedback to refine their audition skills. The class will conclude with an open Q&A, providing a chance to ask industry-specific questions and gain expert advice.

Don’t miss this opportunity to strengthen your audition approach and boost your confidence in the room!

COST: This program is free for SAG-AFTRA Arizona-Utah Local members as a benefit of membership.

Learn an effective tool professional athletes and performers use to eliminate negative energy and optimize the mind and body for optimal performance! EFT TAPPING (tapping on the acupoints of the body's meridian system) resolves blocked energy for true emotional freedom in role exploration and performance.

Rehearsals will be expected with your assigned scene partner to rehearse through the course.

Description:

Join the SAG-AFTRA LA Conservatory for Headshot Photography and Evaluation with Theo & Juliet!

In this class you'll learn: 

  • Technical basics of headshot photography.  (e.g. Focus, lighting, etc.)
  • The importance of Actor Tech (e.g. formatting)
  • General Headshot Details Discussion (e.g. wardrobe, hair and make-up)
  • Sample Evaluation of materials (e.g. a live evaluation of one man and one woman’s current headshots projected on a screen for the room to see.)
  • Difference between Headshot photography, Editorial Photography and PR Photography
  • Current world of Social Media and how it pertains to photography.
  • Followed by a Q&A

The last two hours of this course will be an optional evaluation for those who want their individual materials reviewed by Theo & Juliet in front of a class in order to be able to make improvements to their promotional image materials in the future.
