Members Get Ready for Their Virtual Closeup

On August 20, SAG-AFTRA Arizona-Utah Local members took advantage of the latest local Conservatory program, Self-Taping and Live Remote Auditions. 
 
Local member, owner and head coach of Verve Studios, Amanda Melby, led the workshop, which was designed to help members produce quality self-tapes and prepare for live remote auditions. Melby, who has been virtual auditioning and booking work for over seven years, shared her industry knowledge and best practices.
 
Over the 2.5-hour presentation, members learned about equipment and techniques that included lighting, sound, camera, editing and delivery; all the tools needed for successful virtual auditions. Attendees were encouraged to join Zoom from their best self-tape location and were given opportunities to ask questions about their setups. They were also able to practice giving a live remote audition. One important takeaway from Melby was always to use a tripod and not submit hand-held videos.
 
Melby was praised by members for not only sharing beneficial career advice but making it fun as well.
