I hope that this finds you safe and doing well. I wanted to take this time to pass on some news and information to our Arizona-Utah Local membership.

As we all know, these are trying times on many levels. Be assured that SAG-AFTRA national leaders, staff and the Arizona-Utah Local Board are working on your behalf to get us all safely back to work as soon as possible.

A white paper with general guidelines on resuming production was recently issued to governors and a second, more-detailed document was issued June 12, entitled The Safe Way Forward. Industry unions and guilds have been and will continue to work together to ensure cast and crew are safe as possible on set.

If you want to know if a production is union or not, you can search our website here: Signatory Search.  The website also has a handy universal search function if you’re looking for information. Give it a try by clicking on the magnifying glass icon at the top of any page.

As we wait for production to get back to “normal,” I highly encourage you to take advantage of your temporary down time by attending the President’s Taskforce on Education Outreach & Engagement (PTEOE) programs that offer skills and career information for members. If you miss a program, replays can be found on SAG-AFTRA’s YouTube channel.

Here are a few past programs you might find helpful:
Self-Tape Like a Pro
Taxes for the Performing Artist
Maintaining Balance and Wellness During the Pandemic

I also want to share the new digital issue of SAG-AFTRA magazine, and these recent union statements as they impact us as both members and individuals.
Arrest of Journalists
Police Unions and Building a More Racially Just & Equitable Society
COVID-19 Related Waivers
Tentative New Theatrical Agreement

In local news, Nancy Hall has been appointed by the Arizona-Utah Local Board to fill the vacant member at-large seat due to a resignation earlier this year. We are now back at a full roster of 12.

If you wish to reach me, another board member or staff about serving on a local committee or issues impacting the Arizona-Utah Local, please email azut@sagaftra.org. We are always open to new ideas and looking for members willing to be a part of the team and part of finding solutions. Our local committees include: Agents, Communications, Conservatory, SAG Awards Party, Organizing/Strategic Planning, Stunt & Safety and the Utah Outreach Committee.

As always, if you have any questions reach out to us now, that is why we are here.

In solidarity,

Joe Corcoran
