A Message From Houston-Austin President Michelle A. Robinson

Dear Member,

Merry Christmas and happy holidays from the Houston-Austin leadership!  Here’s hoping we all have a wonderful and fulfilling holiday season, with lots of love and merriment, both with our family and friends, AND on the work front.

Our recent membership meeting in Austin was very well attended and we loved seeing all the members. We had one of our largest groups attending. Our special guests were casting director Beth Sepko and Fred Poston, the executive director of Texas Media Production Alliance. Both guests were passionate and informative about their respective jobs and gave the audience a ton of information about casting as well as movie projects in the state. In addition, Fred spoke about the legislative process and how much money we would get from the state to create film projects.

We will be saying a sad farewell to our current executive director, Tom Schwarz, who is leaving us at the end of December. Tom has done so very much for both the Houston-Austin Local and the Dallas-Fort Worth Local. He grew and nurtured many friendships with our Local members, as well as the Board members, and we will miss his guidance and strength. Good luck on your next adventure, Tom! We miss you already!

Please know a search committee has been formed and we are actively looking for our next executive director.
