A Message From Los Angeles Local President Jodi Long

Dear Member,

Happy solstice! Much gratitude to the 78% of our voting members that ratified our 2023 TV/Theatrical Contracts and officially ended our 118-day strike. At last, setting the stage for renewal as the days grow longer, letting light in after a long period of monetary contraction and little work for our members. 

After much sweat and a few tears over thousands of hours fighting the good fight, we prevailed, with a contract that is valued at more than $1 billion in new money, more than three times the amount of our last TV/Theatrical contract, valued at $300 million. 

The committee stood strong due to YOUR support and the solidarity that was the result of it. We showed the AMPTP what SAG-AFTRA was capable of, with a strong, united membership. Bravo, for this was HUGE. 

Moving forward into the new year, I want to assure you that President Fran Drescher, Secretary-Treasurer Joely Fisher, Executive Vice President Linda Powell, L.A. 1st Vice President Sheryl Lee Ralph, L.A. 2nd Vice President David Jolliffe and I are committed to continuing to work in concert with each other. We are only here because of you, in service to the greater membership’s good. 

As the days grow longer and we emerge into light, take some much-needed time with your loved ones for rest and for reflection to set your goals for the new year: aim, consolidate your intentions and achieve.
