A Message From New Mexico Local President Talia Pura

Greetings My Fellow New Mexico Local members,

It’s great to be back with you in New Mexico after attending the Committee of Locals conference in L.A. It’s the first time the presidents of all the small and medium-sized locals have met in person since before the pandemic. How wonderful to share ideas on how to serve our members and get inspired with other leaders from all across the country.

Don’t forget that the New Mexico Local now has our own official Facebook page facebook.com/sagaftraNM. Check it out, like and follow, and keep up with our local news.

If you haven’t yet attended one of our fabulous Coffee Connections, now is the time. The next one will be in Santa Fe on Saturday, Nov. 23. It’s a chance to network with other members and be part of our community. Look out for further announcements with details and registration.

Just a heads up: To show one more way in which we’ve got your back, the locals’ TV/Theatrical 500-mile travel waiver will be eliminated on Jan. 1, 2025. This doesn’t impact members' ability to work in New Mexico or other neighboring markets within a 500-mile radius of a New Mexico-based production, it just means the production can no longer waive travel time pay on the days when performers travel and no other work is performed.

We’ll be talking about this and other important issues impacting New Mexico members in greater detail at our annual membership meeting/holiday party on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 7. So save the date and watch for details!

I wish all of you much success with your auditions, good health and optimism for the future as we head into the holiday season.

Cheers,

Talia Pura

New Mexico Local President
