Jim Gleason

Dear New Orleans Local Member,

Now that the IATSE and Teamster negotiations are completed and the threat of a strike is over, I anticipate TV and film production will pick up soon in our local. I know the past few years have been especially difficult for members, and I want to acknowledge the challenges you’ve faced and thank you for remaining steadfast to SAG-AFTRA and our union siblings.

With the Super Bowl coming to New Orleans next year, I also anticipate more commercials coming to Louisiana. If you’re interested in working on those commercials, please read our latest news article Commercial Work in Louisiana

We’ve also seen an uptick in potential casting scams in our area, and I ask your help in making sure no one falls prey to them. Performers should never be asked to pay money to audition or work, and they should NEVER front money with the promise of reimbursement. Performers should be wary of providing information such as Social Security numbers and dates of birth. Members should always verify a production’s signatory status before starting work. Anyone can check if a production is signatory on our website Signatory Search. Members can also log in to the website and see additional information under Production Listings or use the member app to search for union work in our local or any local in the country. (You must login first to access the Production Listings.)

Your local board and committees have been hard at work, and I hope you’ll review all the news articles below to see what we’ve recently accomplished.

You’ll have a chance to hear more and ask questions at our annual membership meeting on Monday, Oct. 28. Save the date and watch for details coming soon!

In solidarity,

Jim Gleason
New Orleans Local President
