Hello New York Local Members,

I’m hoping this letter finds you and your loved ones healthy and ready to put 2021 in the rearview mirror. I remain grateful for the New York membership and the resilience we’ve shown in the past two years. Unfortunately we can’t let up. As we head into another holiday season with the long shadow of COVID-19 looming once again, I urge all of you, if you haven’t been vaccinated or gotten your booster shot, please make a plan to do so today. It’s the best way to protect yourself, your family, your community and our industry. Information about vaccines and other resources can be found on our New York Local COVID-19 Resources webpage. You will find information for New York City and State, plus upstate regions, New Jersey and Connecticut.

As you probably have heard, Mayor DeBlasio recently mandated vaccines in most workplaces. As stated on the NYC Dept. of Health webpage, “Beginning December 27, workers in New York City who perform in-person work or interact with the public in the course of business must show proof they have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Workers will then have 45 days to show proof of their second dose (for Pfizer or Moderna vaccines). Businesses may not allow any unvaccinated workers to come to their workplace. A workplace is considered any location — including a vehicle — where you work in the presence of at least one other person.” This new policy will, by law, apply everywhere that our members work in the city.

Our collective adherence to health guidance and safety protocols is the best way to protect our work spaces and get us back to the sense of normalcy we all long for. Continue to stay smart and stay safe.

Wishing you and your loved ones a bright and meaningful holiday season, and a very happy New Year.

Forward together,

Ezra Knight
SAG-AFTRA New York Local President
