Dear L.A. Local Members,
We have had a busy end of the year!
I am proud to say that your elected L.A. Local Board has been hard at work for you. Our committees are now chaired and seated. Some have even begun to get a jump on the work for next year. We are hoping (G-d willing we get through this latest surge in COVID) to open safely sometime next year and get some of our programming up and running for you!
We had two regular board meetings as well as two emergency board meetings to discuss convention resolutions. With over 40 resolutions shepherded by our board to go to convention, there was a lot to discuss! In addition, many from our local board participated and ran the commercials W&Ws in preparation for the Commercials Contracts negotiation in February. AND we added more staff, yay!
I am particularly pleased that the L.A. Local Board got to participate in an unconscious bias workshop expertly facilitated by Julie Ann Crommett. It is important for all of us to understand where our biases and microaggressions lie, so we can learn how to better communicate/participate, doing the best work we can for YOU, our members.
Good news from Sacramento, too, which is great for L.A.: the film and tax credit.
So, a BIG THANK YOU to our busy bee L.A. Local Board, our intrepid staff, the members who participated in the W&Ws and to the members who volunteered for committees. And for those that didn’t get seated, don’t worry, we will call on you as we get back up and running.
Merry everything!
With blessings for a happy, healthy new year full of love, joy and wonder.
All the best,
Jodi Long
