Ezra Knight

Dear Union Member,

The New York state budget season has kicked into full gear, and I want to share some good news. The executive budget proposal includes $3 million for the entertainment worker COBRA subsidy (as well as a partial reappropriation of last year's $3 million), and a one-year extension of the program. Keep a lookout for any further updates, as we may need you to take action and reach out to your state legislators!

Members who work the Music Video Contract are encouraged to attend the National W&W Meeting for the 2025 Music Video Contract Negotiations taking place virtually on Friday, Feb. 14. Advance registration is required.

Also this month, the union begins our important Commercials Contracts negotiations. We wish our negotiating committee well. Stay tuned for updates from SAG-AFTRA as the process takes shape.

In other contract news, our Interactive Media (Video Game) Strike is entering its seventh month as performers fight for A.I. protections. Let’s keep the pressure up! Show your support on social media. Repost information from the union. And if you’re offered work on a video game, be sure to check this link to confirm the project’s status. One day longer. One day stronger.

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation in New York offers numerous free programs and services for SAG-AFTRA members. If you haven’t yet taken advantage of the On-Camera or Voiceover Labs, free screenings and Casting Access programs, I encourage you to register with the Foundation today.

Lastly, a reminder to keep up with union news every way you can. Follow the official SAG-AFTRA New York Local Facebook and X accounts.

Forward together,

Ezra Knight
New York Local President
