Dear Member,

Great news! Now that the office in Bethesda is open, members again will be able to use the self-taping equipment in the office starting this month. You’ll need to reserve your time and make arrangements with Jackie Jackson if you want to schedule a time slot (email Jackie.Jackson@sagaftra.org). As before, remember to bring your own SD card with you.

I’m also excited to announce that we are working on our spring conservatory calendar with several great new workshops for members, both on Zoom and in-person.

I want to thank everyone who participated in our TV/Theatrical wages and working conditions meetings over the past two months, as well as those of you who wrote letters and showed up to support Maryland House Bill 270 and Senate Bill 452 to increase the available film tax incentives in Maryland.

Finally, our thoughts are with our union brothers and sisters in the Local who have seen layoffs and buyouts across our many broadcast stations and networks over the last several months, including NPR. Executive Director Pat O’Donnell and Broadcast Business Representative/Labor Counsel Tom Magner handle NPR’s contract in our office.

In solidarity,

Kathryn Klvana
Washington-Mid Atlantic Local President
