Dear Member,
This spring promises a flurry of activity in the Twin Cities Local.
Our Local Organizing Committee has been hard at work advocating for the expansion of the hugely successful Film Production Tax Credit Bill in the Legislature since the winter and we are at an important juncture. The expansion of the tax credit would generate even more good-paying film production jobs, and bring millions of dollars to the Local.
However, for all of the Committee's hard work, we need all of you living in the state of Minnesota to reach out to legislators on the Conference Committee. Our bill to increase the Film Production Tax Credit from $5 million to $25 million, HF 2059, is scheduled for a hearing this Friday!
With the hearing so close, the only action needed at this time is YOUR PRESENCE.
Please come show your support for bringing bigger budget productions with higher wages back to Minnesota!
What: House Economic Development Finance and Policy Committee Hearing of House Bill HF 2059
When: Friday, March 10, 8:30–10 a.m.
Where: State Office Building, 100 Rev Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Room 200, St Paul, MN 55155
Parking is available in the old Sears lot between Marion and Rice Streets. Enter on the MLK Blvd. side of the building.
Our focus with this hearing is to show how the Film Production Tax Credit will positively impact job growth, and having many of you who work those jobs there to show your support is crucial!
For more information about next steps, please join us and our labor and industry allies for upcoming town hall meetings on March 15 and March 29. These meetings are co-hosted by SAG-AFTRA, IATSE, the Minnesota Film Alliance and Upper Midwest Film Office. You can reserve a spot at the next town hall by following this link.
Carrying signs is not allowed in the hearing room, but you can wear your support! Union sisters and brothers, please represent with your respective shirts, jackets, hats, pins, etc.

Let’s make this happen!
