A well-attended informational meeting to present the terms of the new Telemundo contract was held in Miami on July 27. After voting 91-21 for SAG-AFTRA representation at an NLRB election on March 8, 2017, and spending 15 months at the bargaining table with Telemundo, performers who work in scripted programs at Telemundo finally got a deal.

SAG-AFTRA Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, who served as chief negotiator, and Negotiating Committee Chair Pablo Azar presented details of the new agreement. Excitement was in the air as Telemundo performers learned about the provisions in the new contract that include the performers’ top three priorities: minimum rates of pay, residuals, and health and pension benefits. Following the presentation, it was party time. Attendees celebrated with a DJ and a surprise appearance by mariachis, who were invited by one of the members to also celebrate Azar’s birthday. It was a festive and memorable night for all in attendance.
