SAG-AFTRA Nashville is mourning the loss of singer, songwriter and producer Blue Miller. Born William Mueller, Miller was a beloved musician and producer who worked with artists ranging from Bob Seger to Issac Hayes, but who gained worldwide attention as the guitarist, songwriting partner and mentor to soul artist India.Arie.
A native of Detroit, Miller moved to Nashville in 1990 and did session work. He later formed the Gibson/Miller Band with Dave Gibson, releasing two studio albums, before disbanding in 1994. Later that decade, Miller and Arie were put together by a Universal Records talent scout to help Arie secure a recording contract. Her resulting debut album in 2001, “Acoustic Soul,” was nominated for multiple Grammys and went double platinum.
