SAG-AFTRA leaders and staff from the New York and Philadelphia locals attended the New Jersey state AFL-CIO 2023 Legislative/COPE Endorsement Conference held on June 13 and 14 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. The theme of this year’s conference was “Building Worker Power Through Education and Mobilization.”

SAG-AFTRA Executive Director, New York Local, Labor Policy, and International Affairs Rebecca Damon addressed the union members in attendance and spoke on the importance for members of SAG-AFTRA that the union be officially affiliated with the New Jersey state AFL-CIO, as tax incentives in the state have spurred increased production and development of new state-of-the-art studio spaces.

Gov. Phil Murphy was also in attendance, speaking to the power of labor unions and how they are fighting to make the difference.
