The New Orleans Local Women’s Committee sponsored a self-defense program for members on August 29 in New Orleans. SAG-AFTRA member Alex Coker gave attendees numerous tips on how to protect themselves in life-threatening situations, such as during an active shooting or a personal attack. He shared helpful information through slides and videos as well as providing examples of makeshift devices that could be used for defense. Coker’s goal was to make sure every attendee left class feeling empowered.

“I'm deeply grateful to SAG-AFTRA for providing our local with this self defense class taught by Alex Coker. He put so much attention to detail and heart into sharing his expertise with us. I walked away feeling stronger in myself.” said member Kate Adair.

Empowerment mission accomplished!
